Located by the river in Guangzhou, this 230 sqm apartment is a tranquil haven designed for a fashion-industry couple. By adopting a "subtraction" approach and integrating curated furnishings, we created a space that perfectly balances functional order with emotional warmth.
Nestled along the riverside in Guangzhou, this 230-square-meter apartment is designed as a tranquil haven for a couple working in the fashion industry. Recognizing that a home is more than just bricks and wood, but an emotional vessel carrying our deepest love and joy, we approached this project with the intent of creating a space filled with authenticity. Capitalizing on the panoramic river views that inject a fluid dynamism into the interior, we adopted a "subtraction" design philosophy.
By minimizing the visual weight of fixed elements and integrating the living and dining areas, we established a clean, restrained, and freely breathing spatial foundation that perfectly aligns with the owners' preference for openness.
To construct a seamless sense of order, we cleverly hid not only the storage but also the very boundaries of the space itself. Frameless doors, embedded television panels, and extensive built-in cabinetry allow this structural order to blend quietly into everyday life. Against this restrained backdrop, we introduced subtle aesthetic tension. Partially expanded black wood veneers, symmetrical layouts, and slender black lines outline a delicate retro elegance.
Here, French softness and Chinese tranquility quietly merge in the details. In the dining area, a full-wall cabinet elegantly displays the tableware the couple has collected from their global travels, turning a practical storage solution into a romantic, poetic daily landscape.
Supported by warm and restrained structural elements, the soft furnishings naturally take over as the emotional expression of the space. Inspired by the wife's daily ritual of always keeping fresh flowers, we curated details that subtly exude the warmth of home. From the marble dining table and curved Cassina sofa to a delicate cup or a wisp of fragrance, beauty is found in quiet, poetic moments rather than grandiose displays. We believe every room is an emotional vessel.
Whether it is the fairytale-like daughter's room, the shared family sauna, the study doubling as a guest room, the exquisite walk-in closet, or the meditative bathtub space, we channeled our design expertise to materialize the owners' living ideals, infusing every corner with exclusive emotional significance.
