MASSminors is a 128m² conceptual bar in Guangzhou. Designed as a "shop-in-shop," it features three distinct zones: the cyberpunk "MASS" outer room, a space-time tunnel made of 600 flip clocks, and the classical "minors" inner room. It offers a surreal, cross-time social experience.

Located in the bustling core of Guangzhou's Zhujiang New Town, MASSminors is a 128-square-meter conceptual bar designed by ofgaaarden. Responding to the owner's request for a unique "shop-in-shop" layout, the space serves as a metaphorical intersection of chaos and order, gathering and dispersing.

The minimalist, silver-grey galvanized iron exterior perfectly camouflages the bar within the concrete urban jungle during the day. However, as night falls and seductive red lights illuminate the street, it transforms into a vibrant sanctuary for nocturnal city dwellers. The journey begins at a nearly invisible lava-textured door; the stark contrast between its avant-garde metallic coating and rough stone touch instantly evokes a sense of treasure-hunting curiosity.

The interior unfolds into three dramatically contrasting scenes, orchestrating a captivating time-travel narrative. The outer "MASS" room embraces a Space Age, Eastern European architectural style, bathed in a cyberpunk dark red tone. Without physical partitions, geometric grooves create a compelling depth, drawing focus to an illuminated row of homebrew bottles.

Connecting the zones is the "Leap Tunnel," an L-shaped corridor that transitions from a Stonehenge-like stone path into a zero-gravity space capsule bridge constructed entirely of 600 flip clocks. Hidden behind mirrored doors at the tunnel's end lies the "minors" inner courtyard. This space completely shifts to a classical era, featuring an Orient Express-style arched ceiling, dark walnut tones, antique lamps, and Carlo Scarpa-inspired peep windows, cultivating the mysterious atmosphere of a detective novel.

To further elevate the cross-time narrative, the design team rejected traditional flat wall decorations in favor of surreal, contradictory 3D art installations. In the "MASS" outer room, an absurd bionic installation of a bound, upside-down horse intertwined with neon tubes and a mechanical engine hangs from the ceiling, offering a dreamlike visual to intoxicated guests. Inside the "minors" courtyard, the bar is crowned with a 3D-printed fiberglass Roman chandelier—a creative and surreal fusion of classical antiquity and modern lighting.

From Morse code patterns hidden in the sandstone bar to the sequence of light-emitting holes on the street-facing wall, MASSminors transcends traditional bar design, offering an avant-garde, story-driven interactive experience.
