Situated in the bustling core of Guangzhou's Zhujiang New Town, bibu is a pioneering boutique pet store that redefines the modern pet consumption experience. Facing the uncertainty of the post-pandemic era, the design team drew inspiration from the "Space Age" to conceptualize the space as an "Ark." This overarching theme breaks away from conventional functionalism, proposing a vessel that connects the past with new future possibilities.

Beyond offering comprehensive pet services like retail, boarding, grooming, and medical care across two and a half floors, the ground level features a semi-enclosed cafe named Doppio. By merging the concepts of "Pet" and "Ark" into a "P+ark," the store transforms into a vibrant, pet-friendly social platform for the local community.

Stepping into the space is akin to embarking on a cinematic space odyssey. The design pays homage to sci-fi classics, utilizing visual elements like an iconic illuminated LED floor that stretches from the ground level up through the ceiling, acting as a cohesive spatial narrative. The aesthetics embrace the futuristic imagination of the mid-century, where rigid architectural frameworks are replaced by fluid, organic shapes.

A giant circular dome light simulates an interstellar orbit, while a striking spiral staircase—blending brutalist and symmetrical aesthetics—commands the central atrium. Every detail, including the soft, ergonomic rounded corners and anti-collision convex surfaces, is meticulously crafted to be visually striking while remaining strictly pet-friendly.

The atmospheric tone of bibu is deeply rooted in retro-futurism, capturing the aesthetic of the "future in the eyes of the past." This stylistic narrative is vividly expressed through a carefully orchestrated three-tier color palette. The first-floor retail area combines dark herringbone wood floors with rich forest green hues, evoking the classical elegance of traditional European department stores.

A transition occurs at the mezzanine, where eggshell white dominates the staircase and lounge, leading to the second-floor pet hospital bathed in a tranquil, sterile grey-blue. Interwoven throughout are matte metal lines and vintage-inspired furnishings, such as tulip chairs, which frame the space with a mid-century modernist charm, ensuring this conceptual ark remains a timeless vessel for human and animal companionship.
